One less thing
to worry about.
We're building a simpler way to build credit — for the people the credit system turns away first.
We're not open for sign-ups yet. If you want to hear when we are, or you're building something adjacent, get in touch.
Why we exist
A decline shouldn't be the end of the conversation.
Nearly every consumer financial product is designed for people who already qualify. If you don't, the system's answer is a form letter — no explanation you can act on, no next step, and no product built for where you actually are. Millions of people get that letter every year. Most of them are not a bad risk. They're a thin file, a rough couple of years, or a first-generation borrower nobody ever taught the rules to.
That moment — right after the no — is when help is worth the most and is offered the least. It's the moment we're building for. Our job is to take someone the system just rejected and get them to the point where it says yes, with a product that's honest about what it costs, honest about what it reports, and finished when they no longer need it.
Then it becomes what the name says it should be: one less thing to worry about.
What we're building
Four commitments we're building around.
Built to graduate you
Most credit products are designed to keep you subscribed. Ours is designed to end. Success is the day you qualify for the thing you were turned down for — and we would rather you get there fast.
One flat monthly price
No interest. No origination fee. No penalty pricing, and no fine print written to be misread. You will know what it costs before you start, and it will not change because your score did.
Honest reporting, always
We report what actually happened — on time, every month, accurately. We will never report a payment as on-time when it was not, and we will tell you exactly what goes on your file before it does.
It fits in a phone
No branch, no paperwork, no thirty-minute application. Signing up should take a few minutes on the device you already have in your hand.
More detail on the product itself when it's ready to show. We'd rather under-promise here and let the thing speak for itself.
About the founder
Hayden
One Less Thing is a one-person company, for now. I've spent my career inside consumer credit — building and running the products people reach for when they're trying to repair a credit file — and I kept running into the same gap from the inside. We could see exactly who was getting declined. We could see that a lot of them were fixable. And there was nothing to hand them.
I left to build the thing I couldn't build from in there. Not a lender, not a score-tracking app, not another subscription that quietly renews forever — a product that meets someone at the worst moment in their credit life and is honest with them the entire way through.
The name is from a line in Forrest Gump. It's also the whole standard I want to be held to — if what we build isn't making someone's life simpler, it isn't working.
